There is a scene in the Movie Amelie that i don't understand?

please only answer if you have seen the 2001 french film Amelie there's a part where she's looking for dominique Bredoteau she rings the doorbell and she says she needs to speak with him for the european census when she goes up the elevator this women says "hello kitten Earl grey?, Jasmine? what will you have? then Amelies smiles and says I'm busy then she leaves and crosses the address off her list. can someone please explain this scene??
