Should I be cynical & hopeless?

Most young black males in my area have been in jail/prison, didn't graduate high school,do drugs,well long story short most of what they do I'm not doing but yet they wind up with jobs before me how can that be, I'm twice as smart as the majority of them,I'm in junior college but yet I can't get a job(even when the census was giving jobs out they were giving jobs to violent offenders and drug addicts but yet I didn't get one).Is it me? or is something totally wrong,I did the right things while the others did wrong and yet most of them have or had jobs while I can't even get one.I can go on for 5-6 more paragraphs on this subject but I will just end it now with a question Should I be cynical & hopeless?
